A teaser made by Kyoto Animation has been made about 4 swimmers which from a BL scale of 1 to Kuroko no Basugay, is probably closer to the latter. The title is not “Ore to Omae No Sa O Oshiete Yaru Yo (I’ll teach you the difference between you and I)”; it’s just a tagline.
I’m really anticipating the anime if it’s going to be released. It looks really well animated; I just hope it doesn’t have a sucky plotline like K.
So erm… I’m not sure how many of you guys watched Toaru Majitsu no Index (A Certain Magical Index) which IMO, there’s a little too much objectification of women and nudity and pantsu shots but apparently, there’s a release of an Accelerator Dakimakura. Which strikes me as odd because Toaru’s fanbase has been predominantly male… well… I suppose Accelerator’s brash, violent nature appeals to a certain group of individuals I guess. To each his/her own.
Preorders can be made here by 2013/03/07 and hey; it ships beyond Japan! It’s around 9000yen which is slightly cheaper than the average dakimakura. So if you wanna get your hands on it now, it’s a great time to do so.
For those who are not sure about who Accelerator is… well here you go:
||下記6種の味が全種楽しめる「全部入り」セットです♪ ・黒子(ミルクアーモンド味) ・火神(ストロベリーマカダミア味) ・黄瀬(バナナマカダミア味) ・緑間(メロンマカダミア味) ・青峰(ブルーベリーマカダミア味) ・紫原、赤司(ラズベリーマカダミア味)
More commodities wrapped in Kuroko no Basuke wrappers that makes you believe that these ordinary chocolates are somehow connected or related to your favourite Kuroko no Basuke characters! Come on, I love KnB and all the rest of it, but the overt commercialisation is getting a little too much. Isn’t the perfume enough already?

Special thanks to <a href=”http://fyeahsuzalulu.tumblr.com/”So this arrived to me in the middle of ethnographics lecture last week! This doujinshi is just as every much as well drawn and erotic as I expected.
As I will be going to Japan in the later part of the year, I’m thinking of how do I do better and serve the BL community to the best of my abilities. And I have decided to run a mini yaoi selling service; basically BL goods that Fudanshi Haven would personally recommend at almost no profit at all. You just need to pay for the transport fee, mailing fee and miscellaneous fees. 😀 Sounds good? I don’t do personal shopping for anyone at this moment unless you ask really nicely and it’s at my convenience but what I will be doing is to basically buy yaoi merchandise and doujinshi which I really believe in and which I really want to build up a base and demand for in other countries and also to please the fans from other countries who do not have access to Japan exclusive goods.
So are there anyone who’s interested in this doujinshi? 😀 I need a rough number so I can buy enough stock and distribute it when the time comes. XD
Here’s some preludes to what you’ll be getting: ^_^
This is a lovely one-shot OVA original love story between a merman (Izaki) and a high school student (Shima). The animation is one of its kind, the storyline touching and well-developed and the whole episode is extremely artistic, well-executed and beautiful to say the least. Note that I don’t usually describe anime as “beautiful” and I usually reserve that for artworks or paintings but this episode is so delicately drawn that the choice of adjective is justified.
This is the second episode in the Kono Dashi series directed by the indie director Yamamoto Soubi. The first episode is called Kono Danshi, Uchuujin to Tatakaemasu (This Boy Can Fight With Aliens) though while well-executed, does not have as much shounen-ai interactions as the second episode.
I’m not going to provide any spoilers but I want to draw attention to a particular trope that is used within the storyline which is mermaid/merman trope. There is a specific reference in the episode to Hans Christian Andersen and it’s not a coincidence because Andersen’s The Little Mermaid represents a specific love that most people don’t recognise have traces of homosexuality.
The Little Mermaid was originally written as a love letter by Hans Christian Andersen to Edvard Collin. Andersen, upon hearing of Collin’s engagement to a young woman, proclaimed his love to him. He told him ”I long for you as though you were a beautiful Calabrian girl.” Edvard Collin turned Andersen down, disgusted. Andersen then wrote The Little Mermaid to symbolize his inability to have Collin just as a mermaid cannot be with a human. He sent it to Collin in 1936 and it goes down in history as one of the most profound love letters ever written. Hence, The Little Mermaid, as it was originally written, did not have a happy ending. The prince fell in love with another lady and the Little Mermaid jumped into the sea and transformed into sea foam. Hence the use of mermaids is always used to connote the tragedy of the incompatibility of love, or love that can never be realised such as in Puella Magi Madoka Magica and in Kono Danshi, Ningyo Hiroimashita perhaps? 😛
Because this OVA is obscure and needs more people to watch and know about this, I’m going to direct you straight to the streaming link over here.
Guy initate, girl stands in passive awe awaiting the kiss. Sickening.
Some time ago, one of my friends expressed great surprise when I professed to have watched Kaichou wa Maid-sama and actually liked it. After all, most guys are not really into watching shoujo anime even if it uphold themes of patriarchical oppression where it’s always the girl who swoons over the guy, the male individual who saves the day and the guy who initiates all of the romance and the kissing. I really liked Kaichou wa Maid-sama because it attempts to portray a more egalitarian relationship where the female protagonist is actually not a pathetic, spineless weeping willow and in certain cases, rescued the male protagonist in certain instances.
How can someone not give in to an arrogant jerk like him?
I can’t say the same for shows such as Kimi ni Todoke and apparently, Sukitte ii na yo. It’s so pathetic. In shoujo manga such as these, the female character is always a classic reject, a sad bullied individual who needs the help of the **most popular guy in school** to raise the social status of the befallen girl. Sometimes, I wonder whether does the female protagonist actually fall in love with the character, or the social class elevation that he represents. It’s also no wonder that females portrayed in this manner are pathetic, ugly, downtrodden until the salvation in the form of a ultra popular boyfriend comes along. I hate it. It pervades this ridiculous fantasy for women (and some men) that somehow, being in love, or being in a romantic relationship somehow fixes your life in a spontaneous, natural fashion. It’s always about being broken and getting someone else to fix up your mess. Whereas in Kaichou wa Maid-sama, these two individuals started out having strong character, two complete individuals who just so happen to fall in love with each other.
But of course, I’m sure there are women out there who find such fantasies enjoyable and interesting, who are very comfortable with the idea of a man rescuing them on a white horse. Many women I know are very comfortable with the idea of patriarchal oppression so I’m not surprised at all to find out that Sukitte Ii Na Yo is a minor hit among many Western viewers.
Some news about this movie:
1. Anime director Sato Keiichi who directed Tiger and Bunny, will co-direct the movie with Otani Kentaro, who’s also a well known director, especially of the live-movie adaptation of Nana.
2. The story has a new original storyline which takes place 130 years after the timeline within the manga.
3. Your black butler will be played by the iconic ikemen Mizushima Hiro:
He used to be a successful actor, then he became an award-winning fiction author and resigned from his company to focus on his writing. This role in Kuroshitsuji breaks a 3 year acting hiatus for him. Here’s a video of him speaking in surprisingly good English:
Looks like a good anime adaptation. Kuroshitsuji isn’t something that requires terribly nuanced acting so I don’t see how bad this can go. I’m more concerned on the original storyline and whether it’ll be as intriguing as some other anime movies on the market: Tiger and Bunny 2nd Movie for instance.
No news on a second season of this yet.
Firstly, あけおめ。今年もよろしく。 (Happy new year, please be kind to me this year too. ^_^)
I’ve seen reports flying around that Season 2 of K begins on Oct 4th 2013. This is a rumor. It’s not confirmed that a 2nd season has been ordered (it may be an OVA spanning one episode) and there’s definitely no news that it begins on Oct 4th this year. According to official sources, NOTHING is being announced yet and according to usual anime standards, they won’t make such a quick announcement on what the sequel would be after they make such a cryptic statement at the end of the last episode anyways. (Tiger and Bunny made a similar annoucement and only announced that a movie prequel and sequel are in the works several months later.)
So calm your tits and carry on. Loads of rumors tend to be floating around this time and you know that fudanshi haven has the most updated and reliable news on yaoi on the Internet so if you’re really interested, follow this blog on tumblr or on wordpress. ❤
Junjou Romantica OVA: As you guys know, there was a bonus OVA release in conjunction with the 10th anniversary of Junjou Romantica (God, Nakamura’s been writing Junjou for 10 years, 本当に信じられない。) There wasn’t really much advancement in the plot category, but there were so much of the nostalgic, heartwarming moments that truly characterised the Junjou Romantica series. Junjou was the gateway for me into the world of anime and to watch this episode and to experience all the familiar heart pangs makes that 20 minutes particularly memorable and nostalgic. Junjou will always have a special place in my heart. ❤
KuroBasu Fandisk: It’s merely a recap of the Kuroko no Basuke series with a lot of candid interaction between Kuroko, Aomine, Kise, Kagami, the Seirin team and the pink haired person. Loads of laughable moments and its everything you want in a fandisk though it’s kept pretty tame if you’re looking for yaoi moments.
Let me know if you’re unable to find a copy of the OVAs and I’ll direct you appropriately. EDIT: In light of overwhelming requests, I’ll only address requests for followers who either follow me in tumblr or in wordpress.
New K OVA/Season announced at the end of the last episode of K. At least there’s some promise of continuation, unlike some other anime (::cough::KuroBasu) which intend on making fudanshi and fujoshi agonise for several months in digging out further news of a second season. >.< More updates later. It’s still unclear whether it’s an OVA or a 2nd season. Stay tuned.
